Danny Ziemann est un super prof ! Il y a quelques vidéos sur sa page Facebook : https://www.facebook.com/dkziemann

Dernières infos reçues après m'être inscrit :

Technology needs: Because so many people are planning to attend (which is AMAZING!), I've converted the format into a webinar. Therefore, you do not need a microphone or a camera to participate... you can stream from home without needing to be on camera. Ultimately, nothing has really changed from how I planned to run it before — it just clarifies that you only need speakers to participate. Still plan on using your bass to play along!

Videos: For those who can't make every session or have to work, I will record each session and upload them to a private YouTube channel immediately, where you can rewatch from home.

Reminders: I'll email a reminder 48 hours before, and 1 hour before the workshop with the link and password.

Do you want to get a head start on preparing for this workshop? Start learning a new tune this week... and write down how long it takes you to memorize the chords and the melody! We'll dig into this idea more :)

Avec plaisir ! :)

Pour celles et ceux qui l'auraient raté, voici les infos et liens du premier jour :

Dear First Call Bassists,

WOW—what a fantastic first day! We had an amazing turnout and already made a lot of great work happen. I’m so thrilled you were able to join me, and I can’t wait for tomorrow’s workshop!

If you weren’t able to join live, or if you want to rewatch today’s (Day 1) workshop, click here:

The handouts and audio from today’s workshop are available here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/ ... sp=sharing

The link to Blossom Dearie’s recording is available here:

Here’s a recap of today’s events, followed by suggestions for making the most of tomorrow’s workshop. It’s important you return tomorrow, as I’ll be covering my practice routine for really learning tunes in a way that supports your ears. This routine helps provide the clarity that top musicians expect from their bass players!

Day 1 Recap

I shared with you my 5-minute warmup for developing a beautiful, focused sound
We discussed having great ears—the most important asset to a first-call musician
We dove head-first into the ‘One-Pass Listen’ and learned the bass line to “You For Me” by ear (and based on your responses, you all were game for it!)
I taught you how to learn a tune quickly by ear (listen for the dominant chords)
Laid the groundwork for tomorrow, where we learn the most effective strategy for practicing new tunes and sharpening your ears
Heard SO many people say how inspired the were, energized, and ready to dig in. Amazing!

Suggestions for tomorrow: Practicing these tasks will help you stay sharp ahead of tomorrow’s workshop! This should take you roughly 30 minutes. While it is optional, I highly recommend it!

While listening to ‘You For Me’, sing the roots of the chords with the recording (like we did today). Complete this three times. You can use the chord changes from the first page of today’s handout.

Using the V-I chord chart (with boxes), sing through the roots of the chords again, but this time sing “Five One” when you reach a boxed dominant chord. Repeat this three times.

On your bass, play the roots of the chords in a simple two-feel to the “[No Bass] You For Me” recording located in Google Drive. Play through the recording three times.

Play the melody from the lead sheet with the “You For Me” play along (with bass).

Lastly… how are you feeling today? Take a minute to reflect on your successes for today, and some of the areas that maybe didn’t come as quickly. Just remember that we’re doing deep work on skills that aren’t as common to music education. By showing up and being willing to try these new ideas, I can promise that you’re going to make great strides in your musicality.

You’re all the best! I appreciate being able to share this part of your musical journey with you. Tomorrow will be even more exciting, and I can’t wait to dig in. See you all tomorrow at the same time!

Ciao for now!
